God has a special place in His heart for the widow and the fatherless. The following passages show us the love and concern God has for those who suffer loss.(Deuteronomy 10:17-18) 17 For the Lord your God is God of gods, and Lord of lords, a great God, a mighty, and a terrible, which regardeth not persons, nor taketh reward:18 He doth execute the judgment of the fatherless and widow, and loveth the stranger, in giving him food and raiment. ,(Psalm 68:5).
The Lord executes justice for the oppressed and gives food to the hungry, and comforts the fatherless and widow (Psalm 146:7-10). 7 Which executeth judgment for the oppressed: which giveth food to the hungry. The Lord looseth the prisoners:8 The Lord openeth the eyes of the blind: the Lord raiseth them that are bowed down: the Lord loveth the righteous:9 The Lord preserveth the strangers; he relieveth the fatherless and widow: but the way of the wicked he turneth upside down.10 The Lord shall reign for ever, even thy God, O Zion, unto all generations. Praise ye the Lord.
