Understanding The Historical & Biblical Significance Of What Is Transpiring In Iraq

Last night President Obama authorized military air strikes to prevent ISIS from taking the City of Erbil.  I wanted to know why Erbil?

It brought many questions as the world has watched one city after another destroyed with thousands slaughtered in the wake of this barbarous, demonic rampage by ISIS, declaring it’s own caliphate.  Why Erbil?  He cited the fact that we had a large consulate and many Americans there, it also appears that Iran has had a huge presence and Consular General there since 1992, but what is so important, what is the value of Erbil?  It turns out that this city dates back to 6,000 BC and is rich with pre-Islamic history, as well as a rich Biblical History.  It’s one of the oldest, continuously inhabited cities in the world.  It was appointed Arab tourism capitol and this year became a UNESCO world heritage site.  It was mentioned in Sumerian Holy writings that date to 3,000 BC.  It dates to the Akadians, and the Assyrians and it’s name means ‘four gods.’  It became a city of worship for the Goddess Ishtar.  Alexander the Great defeated Darius III here.  Also a early center for Syriac Christians.  The Mongols invaded here, and the Ottoman Turks also had control here.  Thousands of Christians were killed here.

Two weeks ago, a suicide bomber killed 24 people in one of Shiites holiest cities Kadhimiya.  Of significance is the fact that 2 of the Shia Twelvers is buried here.  And listed in the history of this city is the fact that they believe that the Angels Gabriel and Michael visit these graves daily.  *Remember it was Gabriel who Mohammed said gave him the Koran.  It’s also worth noting that he ran from the cave thinking he was demon possessed. *  They also believe that the angel Gabriel gave the city of Karbala it’s name,  “it originates from the Arabic word “Kar Babel” which was a group of ancient Babylonian villages that included Nainawa, Al-Ghadiriyya, Karbella (Karb Illu. as in Arba Illu [Arbil]), Al-Nawaweess, and Al-Heer.  According to Shia belief, the true meaning of the name Karbalā was narrated to Muhammad by the archangel Gabriel as being, “the land which will cause many agonies (karb) and afflictions (balā)”

Also of great significance is the fact that  “Shi’as believe that Imam al-Mahdi will reappear when the world has fallen into chaos and civil war emerges between the human race for no reason. At this time, it is believed, half of the true believers will ride from Yemen carrying white flags to Makkah,(Mecca) while the other half will ride from Karbalaa‘, in the `Iraq, carrying black flags to Makkah.(Mecca) At this time, Imam al-Mahdi will come wielding `Ali’s Sword, Zulfiqar (Arabic: ذو الفقار, ðū l-fiqār), the Double-Bladed Sword. He will also come and reveal the texts in his possession, such as al-Jafr and al-Jamia.”

Shi’as believe that `Îsâ (Jesus) will also come (after Imam Mahdi’s re-appearance) and follow the Imam Mahdi to destroy tyranny and falsehood and to bring justice and peace to the world.  This will also be accompanied by the raj’a (return) of several other personalities for retribution of the previously oppressed against the oppressor.

President Obama and others believe that the Prime Minister of Iraq Maliki should step down, and that this is all his fault because he has not formed a unity government.  Excuse me?

“Al-Maliki began his political career as a Shia dissident under Saddam Hussein’s dictatorship in the late 1970s and rose to prominence after he fled a death sentence into exile for 24 years. During his time abroad, he became a senior leader of Dawa, coordinated the activities of anti-Saddam guerrillas and built relationships with Iranian and Syrian officials whose help he sought in overthrowing Saddam. Al-Maliki worked closely with United States and coalition forces in Iraq since their departure by the end of 2011. In June 2014, the United States has asked for Maliki to give up his premiership.”  And another interesting fact is deep within the Political party of Maliki the DAWA party:  “Dawa and the Supreme Islamic Iraqi Council are two of the main parties in the religious-Shiite United Iraqi Alliance, which won a plurality of seats in both the provisional January 2005 Iraqi electionand the longer-term December 2005 election. The party is led by Nouri al-Maliki, who is also the current Prime Minister of Iraq. The party backed the Iranian Revolution and also Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini during the Iran-Iraq War and the group still receives financial support from Tehran despite ideological differences with the Islamic Republic.”

While Christian leaders are calling for help in what they are terming Genocide Western Leaders are proclaiming  this as a failed Iraqi Government, placing blame solely on Maliki and his government. For not forming a unity government.   As you can see this is deeper, much deeper than this.  Does ISIS appear to be a candidate for a unity government?

This is ISIS slaughtering in Sinjar.

So try as they might the darkness is being brought into the light.  Like the fact that Arbil is a hub of US Oil Companies. Like Exxon Mobile, Shell and others.  Oil Companies are running for cover amid the airstrikes there.  (More)

Western leaders have proclaimed Iraq was stable.  And now the truth is here, my question is why did the world sit idly by while this bloody, demonic fury reared it’s ugly head?  The tribulation faced by our brothers and sisters and the innocent people of Iraq constitutes war crimes by the UN’s definition.  So why are they still passing blame, and allowing it to continue?  And the bigger question is still  why Arbil?  Why after so many cities and so many hundreds of thousands of people fled for their lives, why after so many have been slaughtered, kidnapped, tortured and forced to convert has world leaders drawn a red line around Arbil?  We are extremely grateful for the aid being given to the Yazidis stranded and dying.  We are grateful, but it’s time to hold these world leaders accountable for their actions or lack of actions.  And ask the bigger questions.  Pray for our brothers and sisters here, pray for the innocent people of Iraq, that this demonic reign of terror end.

  1. Reblogged this on – living journey – and commented:
Interesting thoughts on the unfolding crisis in the Middle East. Remember that what is happening in the material world is just a microcosm of what is happening in the spiritual one.

We are at war, but not with flesh and blood… although many would disagree with this, we are at war with spiritual principalities. Make sure your Godly Armour is on. I have had at least six months of heavy burden on my heart, mostly about the children, and it was only yesterday that I learnt that ISIS was beheading children. If we in the West can do nothing buy pray, then that is what we should do.

Just a quick note, I quite a few years ago I had a dream… I documented it here on this blog. It’s called “The Sword and the Dragon”. If you do a search for that in my blog you will read about this dream, I do now believe that God gave me this dream.

The next posts will be a few bits of information for you to glean through.

    In Christ

  2. Very good research! I also am thankful for any aid that can reach our Brothers and Sisters, and the rest of those suffering.
However, this whole horrific episode has a very strange smell about it.
Thank you for posting this information.
