I take a minute this morning to pray for all our troops now in harms way, as we remember all who served. Father as the world is plunged into chaos, and wars on all fronts we ask that you protect our son’s and daughter’s serving in our military as well as all those in harm’s way. Guide our leaders, give them knowledge, wisdom and guidance. In Jesus name, we ask this, Amen.

Lest we forget on 11/11/1918 and 2012:
The first chapter of and Other Poems, a 1919 collection of McCrae’s works, gives the text of the poem as follows:
In Flanders Fields
In Flanders fields the poppies blow
Between the crosses, row on row,
That mark our place; and in the sky
The larks, still bravely singing, fly
Scarce heard amid the guns below.
We are the Dead. Short days ago
We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow,
Loved and were loved, and now we lie
In Flanders fields.
Take up our quarrel with the foe:
To you from failing hands we throw
The torch; be yours to hold it high.
If ye break faith with us who die
We shall not sleep, though poppies grow
In Flanders fields
-=Lt Col McCrae, 1919
Flanders Today: 2012
In Flanders Fields, a new people nurture a ruby poppy,
And there are no more crosses and stars on the plain,
And the larks and sparrows are shooed away
From the opium papaver in rows and rows
In Flanders Fields.
